Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a police-involved shooting incident in Prince George that resulted in one man sustaining serious injuries.
Information provided by the RCMP states that in the evening on April 26, 2023, police responded to a call alleging that a man was attacking others at a residence in 2200-block of Oak Street.
It is reported that when officers arrived, they attempted to take the man into custody. There was an interaction, and shots were fired by police.
The man sustained gunshot injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The IIO has commenced an investigation, and initial investigative steps will seek to confirm the details of what occurred during the arrest, and the events leading up to it.
