Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Port Moody.
Information provided by the Port Moody Police Department indicates that on September 15, 2021 at approximately 3:00 p.m., police attempted to arrest a man on outstanding warrants from a residence on April Road in Port Moody. The man reportedly exited the residence using a third story balcony and fled on foot. It is reported that police then pursued him for a short distance before he was taken into custody.
During this incident, the man obtained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The IIO has commenced an investigation to determine what role, if any, police actions or inactions may have played a role in the injuries.

Background
