Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Saanich.
Information provided by the Saanich Police Department indicates that on May 20, 2021 at approximately 11:00 p.m., police responded to a call regarding a reported altercation involving a man with a weapon on the Lochside Trail. Officers attended and located a man on a wooden bridge on the Lochside Trail between Saanich Road and Quadra Street. An interaction occurred, and a police service dog with the Integrated Canine Service was used to assist in the arrest.
The man sustained a dog bite injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Background
