Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a non-fatal police-involved shooting incident in Prince George where one man has suffered serious injuries.
Information provided by the RCMP states that in the morning on July 11, 2022, police responded to a reported theft near 15 Avenue and Victoria Street in Prince George. It is reported that one man was arrested and taken to the detachment.
Police report that while preparing to lodge the man in cells, there was an altercation during which an officer discharged their firearm.
Emergency Health Services attended and transported the man to the hospital for treatment of gunshot-related injuries.
The IIO was notified of the incident shortly after it occurred and has commenced an investigation.

Background
