IIO is Investigating Injuries Sustained by One Man During Arrest in Prince George (2025-093)

Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the arrest of a man in Prince George on April 9, 2025.

Information from the RCMP states that shortly before midnight, police were called to a residential building on the 1500-block Victoria Street about an intoxicated man who was staying there and who may have been in possession of a weapon.

Officers arrived and located the man on the hotel’s property, outside one of the rooms, and moved to arrest him.

During the arrest, the man suffered injuries. He was taken to the hospital where it was determined he may require surgery.

The IIO was notified shortly after the incident occurred and is investigating.
