Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is investigating an incident in Victoria where one woman died.
Information provided by the Victoria Police Department states that at about 11:20 a.m. on November 3, 2023, police responded to a 911 call regarding a woman reported to have climbed over the balcony railing on the 9th floor at a hotel in the 500-block of Oswego Street.
At approximately 11:35 a.m., it is reported that the woman fell to the ground and was pronounced deceased.
The IIO has commenced an investigation, and initial investigative steps will seek to confirm what happened during the incident, and what role, if any, police actions or inaction may have played in the death.
