IIO Public Reports of Two Investigations Released

SURREY – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) has released Public Reports of investigations into incidents involving the Burnaby and Mission RCMP Detachments.
On January 31, 2013, an adult male armed with two knives was fatally shot by a Burnaby RCMP officer. On February 4, 2013, an adult male sustained serious injuries relating to a bite from police dog after fleeing from RCMP officers in Mission.
The IIO investigations into both incidents have concluded. The Chief Civilian Director has found no evidence to suggest that an officer may have committed an offence in either case.
