Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is seeking witnesses to an officer-involved shooting in Bonnington, B.C. (also known as South Slocan).

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on February 13, 2019, RCMP located a vehicle they believed to be involved in an earlier incident. It was reported that there was an interaction with the male driver and an officer discharged a firearm resulting in injuries to the male.

Police provided first aid, and Emergency Health Services transported the male to hospital where he remains with serious injuries.

Any potential witnesses of this incident are asked to call the IIO witness line at 1-855-446-8477.

Background

The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
