New Investigations: Jurisdiction Asserted and Sustained

Vancouver Police Department and Adult Male

On Monday October 7, an adult male sustained dog bite injuries to his arm as a result of an incident involving the Vancouver Police Department (VPD). He was transported to hospital and received medical treatment for his injuries.

VPD notified the IIO on the same day. The IIO has assigned investigators to conduct standard investigative tasks.

Victoria Police Department and Adult Female

On August 27, 2013, an adult female sustained injuries to her arm while in the Victoria Police Department jail. She was transported to hospital and received medical treatment for her injuries.

The incident was reported to the IIO by the Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner on September 18. The IIO reviewed the information provided and asserted jurisdiction on October 9. IIO investigators have been assigned and an investigation has been initiated.
