Surrey, BC – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC has deployed investigators following a police service dog-related injury in Vancouver.
According to Vancouver Police, a man broke into a home on Balkan Street late the morning of Tuesday, October 29, 2019. At approximately 11:15 a.m., officers – aided by a police service dog – arrested the man at East 21st Avenue and Main Street. During the arrest, the dog bit the man on the left arm, causing injury. The man was transported to hospital.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
