Surrey, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a motor vehicle incident near Clinton that resulted in a man and woman sustaining injuries.
Information provided by the RCMP states that at about 11:20 p.m. on February 19, 2023, an off-duty officer driving south in a black Ford SUV was involved in a collision with a white tow truck about 10 kilometres south of Clinton on Highway 97. Both the driver and passenger of the Ford were injured in the collision. The sole occupant of the tow truck was unharmed.
The IIO has commenced an investigation, and initial investigative steps will examine the circumstances of the collision.

Background
The IIO is the Independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
