Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a police-involved shooting incident in Louis Creek near Barrière.
Information from the RCMP states that at about 9:50 p.m. on May 20, 2022, police responded to a report of a man with a weapon on Highway 5. When officers arrived, an interaction occurred, and shots were fired by police.
The man sustained gunshot injuries and Emergency Health Services transported him to a hospital for treatment.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
