Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Abbotsford.
Information provided by the Abbotsford Police Department indicates that on March 6, 2021 at approximately 8:00 p.m., a man was arrested by police in relation to an ongoing investigation. The arrest took place in the 3700-block of Davie Street and involved the assistance of a police service dog, and the man sustained serious dog bite injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The IIO was notified on April 12 and has commenced an investigation.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
