Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating an incident in Dawson Creek.
Information provided by the RCMP indicates that on September 11, 2021 at approximately 9:10 a.m., police responded to a report of a woman alleged to be breaking vehicle windows with weapons. Officers located the woman nearby and followed her to the 1200-block of 103 Avenue. An interaction occurred, and the woman sustained non-life-threatening injury during her arrest.
The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The IIO was advised of the incident shortly after it occurred and has commenced an investigation into the incident.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
