Surrey – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. confirms it has concluded its investigation into a Vancouver Motor Vehicle Incident on August 25, 2018.
According to VPD, at around 5 p.m. on Saturday 25, August 2018, officers attempted to pull over a suspected stolen truck on Main Street in Vancouver. The driver failed to comply and was reported to continue to drive erratically and through a red light. Shortly thereafter the truck collided with a civilian vehicle that was making a legitimate left turn from Prior Street on to Main Street.
Occupants of the vehicles sustained injuries however the IIO’s investigation has determined that the injuries did not meet the established definition of serious harm as defined in the Police Act.
All further inquiries should be made to the VPD who will continue with their investigation into the actions of the affected person (s).
Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
