Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating a non-fatal police-involved shooting incident in Surrey.
Information from the RCMP states that at about 12:00 p.m. on May 24, 2022, police responded to a report of a woman reported to be in possession of a weapon near the intersection of King George Boulevard and 104a Avenue.
When officers arrived, an interaction occurred, and shots were fired by police. The woman sustained a gunshot injury and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Background
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
