Surrey, B.C. – The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC is investigating the circumstances surrounding a death in Dawson Creek.
Information reported by the RCMP states that at about 4:35 a.m. on May 23, 2022, police responded to a 911 call regarding a man reported to be climbing a crane at the 8th Street Bridge.
The man subsequently fell and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The IIO was notified shortly thereafter and has commenced an investigation to determine what role, if any, police actions or inactions may have played in the death. The BC Coroners Service is also conducting an independent investigation to determine the circumstances of the death.
