Surrey – The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has been notified of a police-related incident in Surrey on March 17, 2019.
Reported by the RCMP, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers arrested a male for breach of the peace at an event held at Surrey Civic Plaza. During the arrest the AP went to the ground and was transported to hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The IIO is asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the IIO witness line at 1-855-446-8477.
Background:
The IIO is the independent civilian oversight agency of the police in British Columbia. It investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, whether or not there is any allegation of wrongdoing.
